Personality and Weddings: A Celebration of You

Your wedding day is one of the most significant moments of your life, and it should reflect who you are as a couple! Incorporating personal touches throughout your celebration not only makes the day uniquely yours but also creates cherished memories that you and your loved ones will hold dear for years to come. Here are some beautiful ways to infuse personal elements into your wedding day!

Custom stationary

The ability to express personality into your wedding day can begin as early as creating those save the dates and invitations! Whether it’s a venue illustration or custom made crest, stationary is the perfect opportunity to add unique touches that feel special to you as a couple. Here you can begin to incorporate your colors, flower choices, a theme if you choose to have one, etc. and give your guests a glimpse of the excitement to come!

Thoughtful Favors and Gifts

Wedding favors are a delightful way to thank your guests for celebrating with you. Consider giving favors that reflect your personalities or hobbies, such as homemade jams, locally sourced treats, or small items that can make for lovely keepsakes. Personalizing seating charts and name cards to align with your theme or color palette makes every aspect of the day feel connected and intentional. Some Bride and Grooms choose to create personalized notes for each table or guest which add a truly personal and memorable touch.

Florals with Significance

Flowers are an essential part of any wedding, but they can also carry personal meaning. I once photographed a bride who chose forget-me-not flowers as part of her bouquet and that romantic detail has stayed with me ever since! Consider selecting blooms that have sentimental value; For instance, a groom once brought stems from their home garden to place in vases on the head table. Incorporating these florals into your arrangements, from bouquets to centerpieces, adds even more depth and emotion to your special day.

Meaningful Details

Every detail of your wedding can tell a story, transforming a beautiful event into a memorable experience. Think about elements that resonate with you as a couple, maybe it’s a family heirloom featured in your flat lay or bouquet, a favorite quote displayed prominently, or a special song played during the ceremony. One of my favorite examples is from a recent wedding where they marked each table as different cities from around the world instead of using table numbers - the perfect idea for a travel loving couple! These thoughtful touches are what makes the day truly your own!

Incorporating your fur babies

One of the sweetest ways couples choose to add personality to their wedding day, is by inviting their pets to join the party! Some choose to have their dogs walk down the aisle while some want to incorporate them in portraits. And for those fur babies that would rather not take part in the hustle and bustle of a wedding day, some people choose to feature their pet in details such as figures on the wedding cake or a drawing of them printed on to cups as favors (i’ve seen it all and its seriously the CUTEST!).

Menu choices

A potentially overlooked area to personalize your wedding day is the menu. Rather than choosing randomly off of a set catering menu, think about adding items that are favorite dishes to you individually or as a couple, or hors d’oeuvre choices that are fun and interesting (like a southern biscuit bar!) - or that match the setting (oyster bar at a coastal wedding). Think of having a drink menu that reflects the taste of the bride and groom or again, fits the location or theme of the event. And this leads me to a really fun next point…

Cake Alternative

Okay Okay, cake artists please don’t come for me! Cake is one of my favorite foods personally. However, it’s not always everyone’s cup of tea. If that’s you, think about having a really neat alternative to a cake or cake cutting moment. I recently photographed a couple who chose to do an espresso martini tower instead of cake which was a huge hit among guests and so fun to see! Some choose to opt for a croquembouche (a tower of cream puffs…amazing), pies, cupcakes, or something savory instead. And if like me, cake is your jam, there are endless ways to make it your own. The sky is truly the limit!

Artistic Captures of Your Choices

As your wedding photographer, I take note of these personal touches and strive to capture each of them artistically and in a way that you can appreciate and remember for years to come. From delicate florals and custom decor to sentimental details, I aim to capture images that showcase the beauty of your choices. As you plan your day, remember that it’s these meaningful details that make your wedding uniquely yours. My goal is to preserve not only how your day looked, but how it felt, creating imagery that allows you and your loved ones to relive those moments for years to come.

I would be honored to help capture your story in a way that feels timeless, personal, and true to you!
